I now work at Thought Collective. A group of dedicated creative and technical minds with an appetite for potent, meaningful work and a dedication to their crafts, both on- and off-line. I design and write. I also curate the found type, print and stuff blog Ace Jet 170 and am a member of the writer's group 26.
Thought Collective is a hand-crafted selection of talented individuals. We feel our strength comes from a combination of diverse skills. With a leaning towards digital, I'm mostly involved in the strategic side of what we do.
The Northern Ireland Design Alliance is a partnership between industry, education and stakeholders who are committed to seeing Good Design Practice in Northern Ireland. Our goal is to promote professional standards and develop world-class design skills.
Ace Jet is my found type, print and stuff blog. Although I do some work under this title, it tends to be pro-bono or personal projects.
At hamillBosket I designed and wrote. Mostly for work that related to brands: strategy, tone-of-voice, expression. Which once meant matter printed with ink on paper but later became mostly digital. I'm very proud of the work I did and the many things I learned during these years.
CWA was great. Mostly learned how to develop successful direct marketing campaigns for FedEx, Saab and Volvo.
I was Chapter One's first agency typographer. We specialised in direct response advertising and were very good at it. I learned a lot about good direct mail there. Chapter One doesn't exist now, which is a shame.
Hurlstons was a great place to start working. Full of lovely people who cared about craft. I spent 18 months working on a drawing board, drawing, with pens and everything. And then the beige boxes arrived and there was no looking back.
